Founded in January 1928, established by the Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation and the “Editorial Board “Zootechniya”. The 1928 print edition included the best scientists, breeders, USSR: by P. N. Kuleshov, M. F. Ivanov, E. F., Liskun, I. S. Popov, etc. In the first years the journal was produced under the title “Herald of livestock.” Since 1930 renamed to “Socialist farming”. From 1932 but in 1938 it was called “Animal Industry Problems”, and from 1939 to 1953 (with a break for WWII) – called “Socialist farming”. In 1953 the journal was published under the name of “Animal Industry”. From 1988 to the present moment the journal is published under the name of “Zootechniya”. During the years of formation and development the journal became the basic pantry of scientific and technical information in agriculture of Russia on problems of livestock and scientific knowledge. Qualitative transformation of domestic livestock, feeding, technological issues, experimental methods in the journal were discussed by well-known scientists and organizers of science: N.F. The task of the editors and authors of the journal is to improve the quality and number of publications in international scale, to increase the citing of our scientists in international databases, as well as the presence of the “Zootechniya” journal in these databases. With highly qualified specialists the journal persistently directs the activities for solve the problems facing the livestock industry and agro-industrial complex. Lighting new in science, it gives guidance to the authorities of agricultural development for the rational use of the recommendations of the science and international experience. “Zootechniya” journal will continue purposefully and creatively participate in the development of agro-industrial complex of Russia.
